Saturday Morning Rides — San Diego, CA
Donny’s Café ride
This ride is designed for riders looking to accumulate base miles and is open to all levels from beginner to hardened racer. A moderate tempo starts the ride and is designed to keep the group together until we hit stud loop. We will leave Donny’s Café at 8:00am sharp (4201 Bonita Rd., Bonita, CA). We head towards the coast down Bonita Rd, along the river then head south to Main Street. The route takes us on lightly travelled roads south of Chula Vista and then heads east on Olympic parkway. We take a right at Otay High School and this is where the fun begins. For those not interested in going hard there is a bypass that heads to the regroup point. After the regroup, we head east towards hwy 94 and have a sprint at the sign just before the hwy. We then turn back and head to the shop for coffee and bagels. All are welcome- Total miles: approx. 45 miles.
Sunday Morning Rides

On Sunday’s (Sept thru January), we leave Donny’s Café (3901 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA) at 8:00 am sharp for some base miles and climbing in the hills of east county. We will do between 65 and 90 miles with approx 7500 feet of climbing. This is an organized workout so we will be following a predetermined set of drills. All are welcome to join and participate. We only ask that you not interrupt the training if you are not interested in participating. We do regroup but suggest you have the fitness to complete the miles and climbing.
Safety Guidelines
- After about a 15 minute warmup, the race is on until 7pm or everyone gets tired of chasing the CAT 2 boys.
- When it’s dark (during winter months), all riders must come prepared with a white headlight and red tail light. It’s the law, and much safer too!
- If you arrive late, or choose to sit out for a couple of laps to catch your breath, do NOT rejoin the pack from the front. Let the entire pack go by, and chase back on from the rear. This is the same way you would rejoin a race if you had flatted and gotten a free lap. It’s much safer and respectful to those that never stopped.
